CONSTIPATION: CAUSES, SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT.

 Overview

Constipation is a condition in which a person passes less than three bowel movements per week or has difficulty in bowel movement .
Constipation is not a disease but a symptom  caused by some other factor.

If you face this problem, then you shouldn't ignore it. Constipation can lead to unpleasant health conditions such as hemorrhoids and rectal prolapse.

Cause

Your large intestine is basically divided into 3 parts, cecum, colon and rectum.
Cecum is the first part and the part where your small intestine joins with the large intestine. The largest part is the colon where the main procedures of digestion take place. Last part is the rectum, where the facial matter is stored until defecated.

Your colon's main function is to absorb water from the passing food substances and create faeces. Due to improper movement of the large intestine the food stays there for longer than intended, which causes excess absorption of water from food, which results in hard and dry faeces. These hard and dry faeces are difficult to remove due to continuous improper bowel movements.

The main causes for improper bowel movements and constipation are as follows.

1.Poor diet
2. Dehydration
3. Low fiber diet
4. Alcohol consumption
5. Eating a lot of junk food
6. Stress
7. Lack of exercise
8. Change in routine
9. Medications
10. Delaying the impulse to have a bowel movement.
