ASTHMA: Symptoms, Causes, Prevention and More.

 

Overview:-

Asthma is a condition in which your airways get narrow and blocked because of excess mucus production.
This can cause difficulty in breathing and respiratory problems. A long term problem of asthma can lead to an asthma attack that can be fatal.

Asthma is a non-curable chronic disease that can develop in anyone. For some the symptoms might be minimal and asthma, non serious, while in some symptoms asthma might make their life hell, due to recurring problems.

Causes:-

The main cause of asthma is not known.
Asthma can be caused because of environmental factors or genetic factors or both. Here are some common causes of asthma.

1. Genetic
If you parents or even one parent and siblings have asthma you are also at risk. It is the most common cause of asthma in people.

2. Allergy
Some people get allergy-induced asthma that is triggered by allergens like pollen, dust, animal hair and so on. It's normally latent but in presence of specific allergen, the symptoms are shown.

3. Occupation
The irritants like dust, chemicals fumes or gases trigger occupational asthma in people. This might start as an allergic reaction but then converts into serious health issues.

4. Meditation
There are certain meditations that might trigger asthma in people. These include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

5. Recurring respiratory infections
In some people asthma might be triggered due to recurrent common cold or other respiratory infections. Their asthma starts from zero and gradually develops to a serious level.

Symptoms:-

Symptoms of asthma might vary from person to person depending upon the seriousness.
In some people symptoms might be triggered because of certain substances, while in some people symptoms might be continuous. Common symptoms of asthma are as follows.
1. Wheezing while breathing. (Wheezing a whistling sound made while breathing)
2. Shortness of breath
3. Cough
4. Chest tightening
5. Difficult in breathing
6. Fatigue
7. Difficulty in talking for a few minutes continuously.

Prevention:-

Asthma is a disease that can't be cured, but its prevention is possible.
There are certain things you can do for not getting asthma, and if you get it somehow, then to manage it.

1. Avoid Triggers
Stay clear of the things or substances that trigger asthma for you. These can include pollen, dust, hair and so on. 

2. Quit smoking
Smoking is the major cause of asthma in the current world. People inhale all types of harmful gases that trigger or can worsen the symptoms of asthma.

3. Exercising daily
Sometimes asthma might trigger due to exercising heavily on day one itself. You should exercise daily to keep your lungs and body healthy and away from diseases.

4.Stress management
Stress is also a trigger of asthma. You might start having problems in breathing because of stress. You should try to manage stress with the help of yoga and meditation.

Risk Factors:-

There are various risk factors that might trigger the onset of asthma in people.
These increase the chances of you developing asthma. Some risk factors are.

1. Being overweight
2. Smoking
3. Having allergic condition
4. Exposure to occupational triggers
5. Exposure to secondhand smoke
6. Having a blood relative with asthma

Conclusion:-

Asthma is generally non-fatal in nature but it might generate problems for you to perform day to day activities.
In some cases, it might lead to a life threatening attack which can be fatal. You need to contact a doctor immediately in case you notice any symptoms of asthma.
